I am proud to be the successful BA Cityflyer Placement Programme candidate in the new programme’s first year.
I consider Cityflyer to be the best in the industry and I am very excited to be joining them. I have worked incredibly hard and taken jobs in many areas of aviation in order to get to this point and I will continue to work hard throughout my career with BA Cityflyer.
My time as Navigation, Weights and Performance Officer will give me a fantastic understanding of the airline operation and the next stage; the sponsored BESTPILOT programme, will prepare me really thoroughly for becoming a Cityflyer First Officer. And the permanent Embraer job at the end of it all is an absolute dream come true!
It has been quite a journey to get to this point. After completing my modular pilot training in 2011, I started sweeping hangars at Retford Airport. I was promoted to a fireman, refueller and ramp handler and shortly afterwards, was promoted to tower as a tower operator on the air ground radio.
I started freelancing as a flight instructor as well and gained my examiner rating and aerobatic instructor rating. My total time so far is around 1900 hours.
So far this year I have got married and found out I’m going to be a father. I also applied for my first airline job, because it felt like the right job for me and I could not be happier about how everything has worked out!
I have just begun the Navigation, Performance and Weights Officer role. There’s a lot to take in of course, but the environment is good, the people are great and I am really looking forward to the whole programme.
